First hike of the year

I couldn’t wait to say thank you to Canadian Spring. I couldn’t wait to say hello to old friends.

I have gone through my first Canadian winter so going outdoors was the first thing I wanted to do when I noticed that the temperature was going above 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

I’ve always been a hiker. Like when as a kid I hiked Nepali woods because I lived near one with no friends or computers around and in my early 20s because there were now too much of friends and computers around. Although I had memorable hikes with friends and brothers. Some of my most intimate non-physical moments with myself have been among trees and water, so again, it was kind of natural for me to want to hike Canadian trails once I saw the time had come.

I explored a few parks and trails in my first few weeks in Canada last spring and summer. They were walks more than hikes. My wife and I were living in her brother’s house in Brampton, Ontario. I walked to the woods and parks to be near to myself as I faced a brand new situation and environment. I wrote about it here on Medium.

But none of them were vigorous hikes because most of the trails were short and in the longer ones, I wasn’t sure how far I should go. Newcomers’ anxiety was big on me. I did them alone because my wife wanted to…
