What Do You Do When You Can’t Sleep After a Dream? — You Write!
Trying to crack the code of emotions as morning arrives…
It is another one of those late- night/early -mornings where my dreams wake me up from sleep. I feel like I am stepping out of a movie theater watching a disturbing anthology.
Stunned by the show, but still sleepy, I try to sleep. It takes me a while to realize that the sleep isn’t going to come back easy. My eyes feel heavy and want to remain shut, but the sleep is in the brain, perhaps because it seems to want to do some work!
I lie idle in bed. Still stunned. It takes time for me to notice the anxiety and fear. My brain now asks me to know what causes them. Learning/Writing is a 24/7 job!
My process of trying to figure out the cause of an emotion is by trial and error. First I think of all possible events and problems. I then — through my emotions — sense if that particular thing is the cause of my emotional disturbance. I do this by trying to feel a harmony. If an event or problem is the cause of an emotion, they both harmonize in a beautiful way. Like two guitars playing the same thing.
I lie in my bed looking to find the harmony. I go through all the events of the day before and all the problems I face today.
