Your reading history can teach you more than what you read in the books.

Books are not just a source of learning in terms of what we read in them. Your reading history can reveal a lot about you too.

Also, each visit to a library or a bookstore can be a spiritual experience in terms of self-knowledge. The section of books you go to or the books you grab and read the blurbs of can indicate your current state of mind: your concerns and your desires. Those concerns and desires are expressed in the form of books you select to better understand them.

As I go through my Barrie Library borrowing history, I make the following observations:

  • For one week in May, I borrowed a couple of books about Canada. This makes perfect sense because I had been in Canada for a month and I wanted to understand Canada better.
  • One week later, I borrowed books on online writing. (In between, I remember buying a book on Canadian poetry.)
  • A couple of days later, I borrowed four books on online marketing. This makes perfect sense because by then I was trying to figure out ways to earn from my writing. Both online and as a copy/content writer.
  • Three days later, I borrowed books about online…
