The eyes that see…

Fyodor Dostoevsky does it every time for me!

Every time I need to be calm. Or, I need to see people, society, humanity a little deeper, I go to his works and he never disappoints me. He always does it.

He does all this by giving me his eyes.

The best eyes I have seen yet from which to see human life. I then use his eyes to look at myself, my family, the society, even dogs. And I see all those things in a way that shocks me. I don’t look at those things that way normally. Because, normally I just look at them with half-open-eyes and form half-hearted opinions. I don’t care about looking at them better. But with Dostoevsky’s eyes…

He has good eyes.

Some writers have eyes from which natural beauty can be best enjoyed. Haiku poets come to mind. Some like Nietzsche have eyes from which human eyes are best seen. With Arthur C. Clarke’s eyes, I get the best view of outer space. But with Dostoevsky’s eyes, you get the best view of human life. You get to see human material wealth, moral corruption, sublime virtues, weaknesses, strength, material poverty, mental poverty, mental strength, spirituality, absurdity, sensualism, self-loathing, self-esteem. You not only get to see them all but you get to see them all naked with his eyes.
